Privacy by default. Anything you choose to share is opt-in and never required.
Echolair does not include ad networks, third-party analytics SDKs, or tracking pixels. It is a self-hosted media server and web player: your library, playback, and account data live on the server you run, not on any service operated by us.
Where your data lives
- On your server. Your media library, playlists, favorites, play history, queues, and user accounts live on the Echolair server you (or whoever granted you access) operate. We do not host or receive a copy of it.
- In your browser. When you use the Echolair web player, session details, player preferences, and a per-device name are stored in your browser against the server you connect to. Each browser shows its own device name and client version.
Server credentials
When you sign in, your credentials are sent only to the Echolair server you are connecting to, never anywhere else. The web player keeps your session for that server and does not transmit it to any third party.
Sessions and devices
Echolair tracks per-device sessions so each browser or client that connects to your server is shown its own name and client version. This information is visible only to you and to administrators of the server you connect to, and is used solely to manage and display active sessions.
Network traffic
The Echolair web player makes network requests only to:
- The Echolair server you configure, for library browsing, session management, and playback.
- Optional metadata and directory services that your server administrator has enabled (for example, community radio directories or podcast directories). These requests carry no personally identifying information.
What additional services your server contacts for metadata enrichment is determined by the server operator's configuration, not by the web player itself.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, this page and the "Last Updated" date above will be revised. Material changes will also appear in the release history.
